As the choice of internal packaging often has a direct influence on the external packaging choice, and vice versa, we believe that the correct internal and external packaging solutions are best assessed at the same time.
It may be that improving the internal packaging, the product is protected more from in-transit risks, thereby allowing external packaging to be safely reduced. Alternatively, by increasing the robust nature of external packaging, internal packaging could be reduced.
We believe the correct internal and external packaging solutions are best assessed at the same time.
When assessing the best internal packaging solution, the choice is often led by reviewing the risks that are most appropriate to the customer’s product. The right packaging choice may, for example, focus on securement of the product within the pack, the cushioning of the product or providing an anti-corrosion solution. The right packaging choice is always the most cost-effective, when combining both direct and indirect costs.
As manufacturers of both timber and corrugated packaging we are ideally suited to designing and producing the right external packaging solution for your product, in the right packaging medium. The ‘best fit’ multi-material approach helps us ensure that the packaging achieves the intended purpose. This could include some or all of the following:
- Performance (product protection)
- Total package weight reduction
- Ease of disposal after use, including the ability of the packaging to be reused or re-cycled
