The foam-in-bag system works by placing an expanding foam cushion into the bottom of a carton and inserting the product on top. Another expanding bag is then placed on top of the product and the carton is closed. The cushions will gently mould around the product and when they have no further room to expand, the foam will compress and cease outward expansion. This will ‘lock’ a product into place so that it cannot move.
The system delivers up to 21 Instapak® foam bags per minute and a range of unique formulations of Instapak® foam is available, each of which offer different degrees of memory and rigidity. The machine operator can select from 6 customised sizes, including top and bottom cushions, end caps and corner cushions and can control the amount of amount of foam dispensed, saving on wastage.
The system can be purchased as either a bench-top model or as a floor model that can be used over a conveyor. It requires minimal installation space and saves on both packing station and traditional voidfill space.
