Rosewood Helps Pave the Way for Scouts’ Expedition
Rosewood Packaging Sales Director, John Lord, was delighted to present a cheque for £200 to the Benton District Explorers (Shiremoor Unit) scout group. The donation will be used towards the cost of a cultural week-end expedition to Holland that has been arranged for 5 scouts, aged between 16 and 18 years, as a part of their Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award programme. The visit will take place in October and will include meeting-up with a Dutch scout group.
The Shiremoor Unit has arranged various activities in their fund raising efforts, such as a 16 mile hike from Birdoswald Roman Fort to Sewing Shields on the Roman Wall, in July.
John Lord said, “The Duke of Edinburgh Awards provide a challenge for young people and it takes a great deal of personal commitment in order to achieve them. We recognise the value of the awards both to individuals and employers alike and Rosewood was, therefore, very pleased to help towards the cost of the expedition which I am sure will be a memorable experience for those involved.”
