Rosewood has extensive experience of packing a wide variety of products for export. We can meet a range of packing needs from providing a single packer who may be required for a number of hours to a large multi-skilled packing team for larger contracts. Packing can either take place in a customer's premises or at one of our warehouses, according to logistical and practical considerations.
As a case study, we have a long-standing contract to pack medium to high volumes of small pressed metal automotive parts for export to Japan. The specification requires that the components are coated with an anti-corrosive fluid which is applied in our spray booth before they are packed with volatile corrosion indicator (VCI) paper to prevent corrosion during transportation and subsequent storage. Once the packages have been sealed, a bar-coded label is attached and they are then quarantined for containerisation.
Rosewood has export packing experience for many industries where products require specific and individual treatment and bespoke methods of packing. Some contract examples are as follow:
We will assess a product, its weight and weight distribution, product fragility and susceptibility to impact, corrosion, shock and vibration, the destination and the method of transport. Handling, transit and storage factors will be considered such as multiple-handling and storage stacking.
In general, the key objective will be to provide a cost-effective, fit for purpose export packing solution that will include both inner and outer product protection. It is important that the materials and package styles for both the outer package and internal “dunnage” are carefully selected and that recommendations can meet potential freight hazards.
Other factors may need to be taken into consideration such as the aesthetic appeal of the packaging, the material grade or finish or ensuring that the packaging can maintain its integral strength throughout multiple trips.
