NEFAB Expack
A NEFAB Expak® case is a collapsible, reusable outer packaging made from plywood and steel profiles. The cases can be rapidly assembled to form a strong, secure and waterproof package. Nefab Expak® cases are also an economical packaging solution due to their reusable nature and their low weight / low volume to high strength ratio. In addition, the plywood and steel construction eliminates the requirement for wood treatment when products are destined for countries complying with either the IPPO or AQIS regulations (please see Materials section, Infestation Control).ExPak® Type P cases are normally made from 6mm to 8mm birch plywood. The plywood is of a high and even quality and is not affected materially by damp or climatic change. The plywood and steel construction results in an exceptionally strong but low weight case and it has been tested to exceed the ocean transport stacking requirement of 3,500kg/m2. Not only is the Expak® volume-less, but the weight can be 50% lower than a similar sized timber case and this results in lower freight costs.
The ExPak® case can be rapidly and easily assembled without any requirement for nails. The side and end sections are assembled to the lid and base by a patented system of galvanised steel tongues and slots. The tongue is simply pushed through the slot and bent 90% to be flush with the base and lid. The tongue and slot system aids periodic inspection or customs inspection, as the time consuming removal of nails is negated. The plywood case sides and ends are joined together by a galvanised steel profile that not only adds strength to the vulnerable edges of the package but also allows the sections to be collapsible.
As Expak® cases are normally delivered in the collapsed form, warehouse storage space is minimised. Following unpacking the ExPak® case can be collapsed and, therefore, the return freight costs are kept to a minimum. The cases are reusable and, as such, provide an economic packaging solution in comparison to one-trip “disposable” timber cases. In addition, the Packaging Waste Regulation liability is reduced.
Expak® cases are tested and approved as outer packaging for the transportation of dangerous goods. The case is supplied with markings according to UN recommendations. The high quality plywood finish is an ideal surface on which to print. The product name or the company logo can also be applied in the required colour.
Rosewood can also supply timber or plywood bearers and timber or plastic pallets to suit the range of stock Expak® cases and bespoke sizes and specifications can also be met.
