EcoFlo® is a biodegradable loosefill that is produced from corn. It is manufactured using an energy efficient single-step process. Water, rather than the pentane gas that is employed in the production of polystyrene loosefill, is used to expand EcoFlo® chips. Independent tests undertaken by the Materials Research Group at Brunel University have shown that EcoFlo® has a superior packing performance compared to many other loosefill products. The chips mould around goods and, under compression, they provide a barrier against the migration of a product to the bottom of a carton. EcoFlo® provides high level shock and impact protection for breakable goods.
EcoFlo® is brilliant white in colour, dust and odour free. Since EcoFlo® demonstrates less ‘settling’ than standard polystyrene loosefill, there is less need to overfill packages, as is common practise with some polystyrene alternatives. The chips are less static than polystyrene loosefill and this allows them to flow freely, to speed up the packing process and thereby save on costs. EcoFlo® can be re-used, recycled, incinerated for energy recovery or composted.
